A pioneering water purification solution that uses the power of light and plasma to remove harmful pollutants and combat antibiotic resistance "We, as the PURA duo, are driven by the urgent global threat of antibiotic resistance and water pollution. We decided to address this by combining Anna's research on water purification through photocatalysis and Tomáš’ work using cold plasma (AC corona) to destroy pollutants and antibiotic-resistant bacteria. By developing this integrative and innovative technology, we aim to mitigate public health risks, preserve ecosystems, and slow biodiversity loss, while reducing costs, toxic byproducts, and greenhouse gas emissions for a sustainable future. The team is now working on a next-generation prototype capable of treating dozens of litres of water, bringing PURA closer to large-scale impact."
