Sarah's talk highlights how she applies her passion for history and her research skills as an author and teacher, to tell authentic personal stories from the past. Sarah explains her research process and the potential pitfalls of the 'echo chamber'. She showcases the lessons we can learn from studying history, reminding us that stories worth telling rely on authentic connections to reality. Sarah Luke is a teacher and historian. Her first book, 'Callan Park, Hospital for the Insane', was shortlisted for the 2019 NSW Premier’s History Award (Community and Regional History Prize). Her second book, 'Like a Wicked Noah’s Ark: The Nautical School Ships Vernon & Sobraon', was published in 2020. Sarah Luke is a teacher and historian.
