1 WDG4 leading & 2 WDG4s Banking - Goods train departing Subramanya Road station

Objective : To conquer Shiradi Ghats Load : BCNA rake Power : 1 x PUNE WDG4 #12381 (lead) & 2 x UBL WDG4 #12127+#12141 (banking) Location : Subramanya Road, Karnataka (S.W.R) Date : March 2012 Hmmmmm, After exploring the other EPIC ghat section of SWR - Braganza/Dudhsagur route, had a wish to cover Shiradi Ghat section/this route. This route is much talked about by the passengers because the SKLR-SBHR route goes inside thick forest and huge mountains, During winter season this section will be at its best. There are about 50+ tunnels and 30+ rail bridge in span of 50kms. The train needs to climb/descend 786mts in 50Kms. Their are very tight curves and sharp gradients hence the speed is restricted and bankers/brakers are provided in this section. Seen here is a PUNE WDG4(piglet) hauling the load from Mangalore and is heading towards Hassan. The helpers/Bankers UBL WDG4 Twins which gets attached at this station pushes up the train till Sakleshpur(SKLR) and gets detached. The loco's are pushed to its maximum limit during the run, All the 3 loco's would be roaring at 8th notch. It would take 5 WDG3a's to do this job ;-) Not to worry! because all the passenger train that passes this section are braked/banked by KJM ALCo's :-) Apart from KJM & UBL, Loco's from various sheds like GY,GTL,GOC,ED,KZJ,KYN & PUNE can be seen here regularly. Best train to reach here is 16515/16 Yeshwantpur-Karwar Express from Bangalore, No other train passes here in day time. Thanks for watching and reading this out :D
