In this episode of the Little Rock’s Team Podcast Presented by Staley Electric, Patrick Newton sits down with the one and only Wes Flanigan – a Little Rock native who was the Associate Head Coach of the 2015-16 Trojans and went on to serve as head coach after Chris Beard’s departure at the end of the season. Flanigan is a legend in the state of Arkansas. He won two state championships as a high school standout at Little Rock Parkview where he played under Charles Ripley and his dad, Al Flanigan, and alongside Derek Fisher. He went on to play his college basketball for the Auburn Tigers, where he was All-SEC and a three-time team captain. He’s currently on the staff at Ole Miss, and his previous stops as an assistant include Auburn, Mississippi State, and Nebraska, among others. In this episode, we hear from Flanigan on his high school basketball career, joining the Little Rock staff, his role in recruiting Jalen Jackson and Roger Woods, the Trojans’ wins at San Diego State and DePaul, plus a few of his favorite memories from the 2015-16 season. 0:00 | Intro 0:51 | A true Little Rock guy 2:56 | Returning to Little Rock 5:24 | Recruiting Jalen Jackson 7:20 | Helping bring Roger Woods to Little Rock 10:25 | A love of defense 13:18 | Winning at San Diego State 15:50 | Winning at DePaul 18:54 | Beating Purdue in the NCAA Tournament 19:23 | Josh Hagins' unique role on the Trojans 21:35 | The strength of the 2015-16 Sun Belt Conference 22:35 | Lightning round
