FIFA has removed Jerome Valcke from his position as secretary general following his reported involvement in sales of World Cup tickets for his own profit. The world governing body on Wednesday (January 13) suggested the Frenchman receives a ban of nine years from football involvement. World football's governing body Fifa has dismissed secretary general Jerome Valcke. The Frenchman, 55, was provisionally suspended from football for his alleged involvement in a scheme to profit from the sale of World Cup tickets. FIFA has recommended that Valcke serves a nine year ban from all football activities. Valcke speaking in the summer of 2015 said he had no involvment in illegal actions with the FIFA organisation. "As the head of the administration, I can be proud of what FIFA's administration has done and FIFA's administration I don't think has been a part of any of the stories which are around FIFA, including all the commercial agreements that we've signed, you are talking about my appointment 2007 to 2015, I have not seen anything which is related to any wrong-doings by the FIFA administration regarding any commercial aspect of FIFA during this period. So what you are asking me, if I am responsible for what has happened this last time - I don't think that I am really involved, I don't think i have anything involved in this case. I am responsible within FIFA administration for the work which is part of my duty, based on the FIFA statutes, which clearly defines what is the task of the Secretary General and the task of the Secretary General is to implement the decisions which are coming from the Congress of FIFA and from the Executive Committee of FIFA."
