Glinka: Ruslan and Ludmilla Overture (TMEA Honor Orchestra)

Glinka: Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla Jasper HS Symphony Orchestra February 13, 2014 Jackie Digby, Conductor Jasper High School is a grade 9 and 10 campus in Plano, TX, a Dallas suburb. Their orchestra currently serves over 200 students in five orchestras. Since its inception in 1996, Jasper's Legacy Orchestra has repeatedly ranked as one of the top three string orchestras in Texas, competing alongside high schools that fill their orchestras with 9th through 12th graders, and in 2014 the full orchestra was named the TMEA Honor Full Orchestra. Jasper's orchestras have also repeatedly earned top commendation at UIL competition and festival competitions across Texas. The orchestra performing is the Symphony Orchestra, performing at the 2014 Texas Music Educators Association as the Honor Full Orchestra. Jasper was the first non-varsity ensemble in Texas history to win the Honor Orchestra competition.
