Yale vs Jyutping: Which Cantonese romanisation system is right for YOU?

Hi there! I thought I would do something a little different this time and take a moment to compare Yale and Jyutping to help you decide which one is a better system for you. Or, if you're already learning, shed some light on why you may be having a hard time. If you're completely new to one or both systems, here are some examples so you can see what I'm talking about when I say the letters are different: Blow in Yale is: chēui Blow in Jyutping is: ceoi1 Field in Yale is: chèuhng Field in Jyutping is: coeng4 Melt in Yale is: yùhng Melt in Jyutping is: jung4 More and more in Yale is: yuht laih yuht More and more in Jyutping is: jyut6 lei4 jyut6 Bottle in Yale is: jēun Bottle in Jyutping is: zeon1 Of course, I picked words that showed the letters that were really different, but these would be enough to make me choose Yale over Jyutping. Like I said in the video, Cantonese is hard enough without having the romanisation system slow you down. I am actually super glad I started learning Cantonese BEFORE the invention of Jyutping. I honestly do not think I would have picked up Cantonese as quickly had I been faced with Jyutping.
