A quick look at my Linn LM-1, of which 500 were manufactured. This unit was purchased many years ago when not working, and has been lovingly restored and modified by the very brilliant Bruce Forat at Forat Electronics in Los Angeles. For more information on the Linn LM-1 and all the 1980s drum computers, you can check out the book Rhythm Machines 2 - The 1980s Drum Computers by Alex Graham. This is an all colour book featuring all the 1980s programmable drum machines, which also has a chapter on the software/computer drum pattern composition units, a chapter on the preset units still being manufactured in the 1980s, and also a chapter on some of the units brought out by the former Soviet Union countries. If you are short of cash, you can buy the same book (minus the computer/software chapter) as Drumfax 2 on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk which is black and white rather than colour, and half the price. Other Rhythm Machines books are book 1 on the Preset drum units 1960s-1990s, and Rhythm Machines 3 on the drum machines released 1990-2019 - both printed in colour. The Linn LM-1 musical excerpts include The Human League, Heaven 17, Pete Shelley (also produced by the late, great Martin Rushent), and Icehouse.
