The new Sonoff BASIC-R4 looks just like the original basic, BUT it has a really cool new feature, called "Magic Switch" mode. This means you can use the Basic-R4 with a ordinary light switch! All that is required to make this work is a wire Link across L1 & L2. This keeps the Basic-R4 powered, no matter what position the switch is in. So the light switch won't cut the power to the Basic-R4. So it's always controllable via WiFi, or the light switch. The Sonoff documentation failed to mention that "magic switch" also works with 2-way and 3-way lighting. This means you don't require a neutral connection behind the light switch boxes, because you can put the Basic-R4 up by the light fixture.
