The Shwedagon Pagoda is a huge complex of temples everywhere around the pagoda. The pagoda is a "must see" if you're in Yangon. Stepping inside the complex you're hit immediately with the immensity, spiritual beauty and decor of the place. Its brick structure is layered with gold plates enshrining relics of the past four Buddhas. Each pagoda houses a sitting Buddha. Other temples off to the side are resting grounds for locals who come there to eat a meal there after worship. Recommended: Wear flip-flops. You need to remove all footwear before entering the temple.
