Sister channel to Driftless area Sasquatch!    / @driftless2487   This video was From 7/9/18. 7 hrs of hiking in the surrounding woods from where the purported creature was seen. Much of it was swampland, 3 of the 7 hrs. was spent on the fringes of the marsh looking for tracks in the mud. -none. There was no widespread wind damage to speak of. Absolutely no classic tree breaks, very few arches of large size other than the ones at the end of the video. In that structure, the pine tree that was pinning the arches seemed to be bent over in a strange manner. It would seem to be the least likely spot on the tree to 'give' when forced down. There was no evidence of disease in the area of the bend, in fact, it had no stress marks at all. It had branch configuration consistent with growth in relation to an upright trunk, suggesting it was only recently felled. This tree had several arches pinned under it, which would be completely natural if they were in the path of the felled tree, but all the arches were behind the base of the felled tree in relation to the direction of the fall, which isn't impossible if strong winds can tangle the canopies of the arched trees into the branches of the felled tree, arching them down as it went down. But there's absolutely no other evidence of storm damage in the area. Behind the base of the felled tree, was a cleared off area that had evidence of "human like" activity. Evidence of a fire, empty jar of syrup with the cap off, and lying nearby, small omniverous/carnivorous scat, and a deer skull, were all behind the structure, seemingly strategically placing the bulk of the structure between it's camp, and the highway which was nearby. It's my belief, that someone, or something, spent some time there, in a position where it could use the downed tree structure as a blind. For what purpose, I don't know. Perhaps just curiosity? Wanting to be close enough to the road to watch cars, yet hidden well enough as to not be seen. This might be why this creature was spotted from the road. Maybe, it's an inexperienced orphan, who hasn't had the proper 'fear all man made things' lessons, and is lonely and afraid. It was an exceptionally harsh winter, there are no caves up here in Sawyer co., like there are in the driftless area. Was there a die-off? Do they spend the winters in commandeered beaver houses? And then they just ran out of food? Or is this the work of a mentally ill human? Sawyer Co. Wi has a small population of people, any missing persons would make local news. Here's the thing though, it was RIGHT ACROSS THE HIGHWAY from where the sighting occurred. Food for thought anyway. I might go back again in the fall and expand my search grid.
