Today, we have a super adorable project on the agenda – a DIY cold shoulder ruffle trim baby jumpsuit. It’s the perfect outfit for your little one or a fantastic handmade gift for a friend’s baby shower. So, let’s dive right in and create something special together! [Materials] First things first, let’s talk about what you’ll need for this project. You’ll require: • A sewing machine (or you can hand sew if you prefer) • Fabric of your choice (soft and breathable is best for babies) • Pattern (you can make one yourself or find one online) • Scissors • Pins • Elastic thread • Ruffle trim • Measuring tape • Iron and ironing board • Sewing chalk or fabric marker • Snaps or buttons (for closures) [Step 1: Cutting the Fabric] Start by laying out your fabric flat and then placing your pattern on top. Carefully cut around the pattern, making sure to cut two pieces for the front and back of the jumpsuit. Don’t forget to leave a seam allowance! [Step 2: Creating the Cold Shoulder] Fold the fabric in half for the front piece and cut out a small semi-circle from the shoulder area to create the cold shoulder effect. Repeat this step for the back piece as well. Make sure they match up perfectly. [Step 3: Sewing the Shoulders] With the right sides of the fabric facing each other, pin the front and back pieces together at the shoulders. Use a straight stitch to sew them together, reinforcing the stitches at the edges for durability. [Step 4: Adding the Ruffle Trim] Time to add that adorable ruffle trim! Pin it along the edges of the cold shoulder you created. Use a zigzag stitch to sew it in place securely. [Step 5: Sewing the Side Seams] Now, fold the fabric in half, right sides facing each other, and pin the side seams together. Sew along the sides, leaving openings for the arms and legs. [Step 6: Hemming the Edges] Fold and iron the hems for the sleeves, legs, and neckline. Then, stitch them in place using a straight stitch. [Step 7: Adding Snap or Button Closures] To make it easier to dress your little one, add snaps or buttons along the inseam and at the back neckline. [Step 8: Final Touches] Give your jumpsuit a final press with the iron to make it look polished and ready for your baby to wear.
