SYND 26 4 77 LEFT WING GROUPS PROTEST AFTER RIGHT WING BOMB ATTACK

(25 Apr 1977) An explosion and fire severely damaged the Labour Exchange (La Bourse Du Travail) in Grenoble, South-East France early on Saturday (April 23), destroying millions of files belonging to the city authorities and the local labour unions. The police say the fire was probably of criminal origin, but they add damage was so extensive that it's impossible to determine the exact nature of the explosion which triggered the fire. Left wing groups and labour unions, however, are convinced it was the work of right wing extremists, and they held a big demonstration on Monday (extreme right wingers are blamed for the attack, pril 25) to protest against the incident. Big banners were paraded by the left-wing union group CFDT (Confederation Francaise Democratique Du Travail), the demonstration various political parties, unions, professional groups and organizations were all represented.
