Structure-function relationships of metalloproteins & assembly of their metallocofactors - Y Nicolet

The use of transition metals associated with proteins enables living organisms to perform chemical reactions that would otherwise be impossible with the 22 standard amino acids alone. Some of these processes are at the core of reactions originating from the very beginnings of life on Earth. In this presentation, we will discuss recent work performed in our group to elucidate the structure-function relationships of specific metalloproteins involved in the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, as well as the molecular machineries responsible for producing and inserting the metallocofactors essential to the activity of enzymes such as hydrogenase and nitrogenase.
