We are the Fire of Love, consumed within the wax. This ghazal of Rumi speaks of a soul that has burned away its limits and found itself lost in عشق — divine Love. In these verses, the candle and the moth are not two beings, but one truth: the lover and the Beloved, the fire and what is consumed by it. To be “consumed” is not to vanish, but to awaken — to pass beyond praise and blame, beyond fear and identity, into the living presence of the One. This rendition is an invitation into that state of remembrance. A state where the heart becomes flame, where longing becomes light, and where the self dissolves into something eternal. Listen not with the ears alone, but with the inner ear. Let the words carry you into silence, into devotion, into the sweetness of surrender. English Translation (Approximation) We are the Fire of Love, enclosed within the wax; As the candle, we have consumed the innocent moth. We are the Fire of Love, enclosed within the wax; As the candle, we have attained the innocent moth. That Moon, neither exalted nor abased, now shines; We have entered the realm where praise and blame are undone. We are the Fire of Love, enclosed within the wax; As the candle, we have attained the innocent moth. We are the Fire of Love, enclosed within the wax; As the candle, we have attained the innocent moth. With the Ayat-ul-Kursi, we soared toward the Throne; We beheld the Ever-Living and reached the Self-Subsisting. We are the Fire of Love, enclosed within the wax; As the candle, we have attained the innocent moth. This day, from that Garden, we return with leaf and song— Think not, O Friend, that we have come bereft. We are the Fire of Love, enclosed within the wax; As the candle, we have attained the innocent moth. We leave the ruins, as falcons of the King; We are not of this wasteland, though, here, we appeared. If Rumi’s poetry speaks to your soul, may this offering become a small flame on your path. #rumi #love #sunoai
