Welcome to Cairns Catholic Education, where finding the perfect work-life balance is both achievable and encouraged. And while living and working in a region like Far North Queensland is a great lifestyle move, it's also a great professional career move. With a major domestic and international airport offering flights to most state capitals we are about as connected as a region could be. And yet the Far North provides lifestyle opportunities unlike anywhere else in the world with the Great Barrier Reef on our doorstep, alongside pristine waterfalls, idyllic lakes and stunning rainforest. Our warm climate and mild winters are the perfect backdrop for camping, hikes and exploring – a world away from the relentless traffic and hustle and bustle of the capital cities. And there’s more spare time to make the most of our outstanding cultural calendar, from local and touring gallery exhibitions, performing arts productions and concerts to action-packed sporting matches including football, soccer, cricket and hockey, to name just a few. Cairns and its surrounding towns are also home to a huge variety of waterfront dining establishments, cafes, organic farm-to-table experiences, and some of the best bakeries in Australia. Our 30 schools and colleges educate almost 11,500 students across Far North Queensland, from Tully in the south, west to Dimbulah on the Atherton Tablelands, and north to Waibeni (or Thursday Island) in the Torres Strait. Our diocese spans 377,000 km2, with most of our schools within a two-hour drive of Cairns. We have two P-12 colleges, 20 primary schools and eight secondary colleges - of which four offer boarding, one is co-located with James Cook University in Smithfield, and one provides youth assistance across three campuses. We are the largest non-government employer in the region and pride ourselves on fostering a strong sense of community spirit in a progressive and inclusive environment, with wide-ranging professional development opportunities and the latest technology and facilities, including modern physical education and arts amenities. Many of our schools have spacious auditoriums and sporting ovals, large undercover play areas and extensive music and arts offerings. Leading and teaching at Cairns Catholic Education is more than just a job. We equip our students with the attributes to be compassionate and contributing adults. We place the same value on nurturing and developing our staff, with mentoring, professional development and career advancement pathways and opportunities. Our vision is to provide a world class education for every student in every school. To fulfill that vision, we need the best people to join our team to make our schools the very best they can be. What boxes do you want to tick in determining your next move? Family friendly, a balanced lifestyle, a fantastic part of the world to live, a smart career move, a job that makes a real difference? If lifestyle and career advancement appeal to you, let’s talk, we’d love to hear from you!
