Copyright: BC Archives, Credit: Jack Webster and BCTV Note: Final half hour of programme (V1988:25/1264) not recorded. Jack starts the show by registering his disgust at Dave Barrett, Opposition Leader, being bodily removed from the Legislature and the lack of press coverage of this event; censorship; government by exhaustion; shameful behaviour by our elected officials; the “mystery bills” of the government. Jack then chastises Dave Barrett, Leader of the Opposition, and then allows him to speak to his behaviour the previous day, and his distress about what is happening in the province at large. Jack opens the phone lines. Mr. Barrett replies to a caller’s question by informing him of a non-confidence vote in the Speaker of the House. Then, Jack shares a letter from the Speaker, K. Walter Davidson, and shares his outrage that the Speaker is sending him partisan communications in his role as Speaker. Mr. Barrett counsels Jack that Mr. Davidson has likely violated his role as speaker by writing to a member of the media, and is a very serious breach. Then, Jack speaks with John Gogo, Chairman, Alberta Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Commission; Brian Kearns, Chairman, Saskatchewan Alcoholism and Drug Commission. They discuss public education regarding the use of drugs and alcohol. Descriptive Reference Number: AAAA7358 Call Number: V1988:25/1263_1264 Original Air Date: 1983-10-07
