Everest Base Camp & Three Passes Trek – Days 13 and 14 👉 Here you can see the whole series : • Everest Base Camp and Three Passes Trek In this episode of our journey through the Himalayas, we invite you to join us as we explore days 13 and 14 of our adventure to Everest Base Camp & Three Passes Trek. After intense days of high-altitude trekking, crossing the Cho La Pass and the Ngozumpa Glacier, we decided to take a well-deserved rest day in Gokyo – a magical place situated at approximately 4,800m altitude, on the shore of one of Nepal's most beautiful glacial lakes. Day 13 was all about relaxation, especially since it coincided with Adrian's birthday! We started the morning with an apple cake and a hot pot of coffee at Gokyo Namaste Lodge and Restaurant, savoring the peace and beauty of the landscape. Although the strong wind prevented us from exploring too much, we took a short walk by the lake, where we encountered a few yaks and a horse, capturing them in stunning images. On our way back to our lodge, we discovered the German Bakery in Gokyo, located at the impressive altitude of 4,800m, where we shared a delicious Marble Cake and enjoyed a warm atmosphere alongside fellow travelers. Julie browsed through books in the library, while I (Adrian) watched fragments of Seven Years in Tibet and a documentary about the devastating earthquake that struck Nepal a decade ago. Day 14 took us back on the trail, on one of the most challenging yet spectacular days of this adventure. We woke up early to begin the ascent to Renjo La Pass (5,360m), an incredible viewpoint overlooking mountains such as Pumori, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu. The climb was tough, with extremely steep sections and ice-covered areas that tested our endurance. Once at the pass, we enjoyed the breathtaking view and a special moment with a brave little bird that came just a few centimeters close to our camera. The descent toward Lungden was demanding but spectacular, with stone steps built on a steep slope, followed by a trail passing by a glacial lake and continuing through a picturesque valley. Near sunset, we arrived in the small village of Lungden, where we were greeted by yaks and horses – a pleasant surprise after a long day of trekking. We stayed at Lungden View Lodge & Restaurant, where we were lucky to get a spacious room with a private bathroom – a true luxury at this altitude! The evening ended with a traditional dinner: Dal Bhat for Adrian and Sherpa Stew for Julie.
