... who passed away the 28th of August 2020. This short film is a homage to the extraordinary scientist, conservationist and friend. I had the honor to call him my friend. His knowledge, which he shared in his courses and lectures enriched my private and professional life as a underwater cameraman. Your teachings actually saved my live at least once in a tricky situation with a big tiger shark at the surface. Your voice was telling me the right thing to do! Thank YOU! He always said, when you have to study sharks, ...you have to go in the water with them and meet them on their grounds. His studies always put the well being of the sharks first. he saw them as individuals, characters, ...personalities. He didn't like and did not supported methods to study sharks, which made them suffer and the argument it is in the interest of the shark population did not count ...for him. He almost died when a bull shark was biting his calf, ...he also knew and admitted, that he probably pushed the envelope too far, but never ever jugded the one individual which was misleaded and bit not only the bait floating arround, but also his leg near by. Dear Erich, ...we will meet on the other side, ...when we both will be sharks .... rest in peace my friend! Dr. Erich K. Ritter Ph.D., was an experimental shark behaviorist and avid conservationist.
