The place where Tanaji Malusare, a brave and loyal general in Chhatrapati Shivaji's Maratha army, won the Battle of Sinhagad Fort with a small group of men but lost his life in this battle too. Upon hearing of Tanaji's death, Shivaji expressed his remorse with the words, "Gad ala, pan Sinha gela" which means that “The Fort is conquered, but the Lion was lost”. Sinhagad was one of the first forts which Shivaji recaptured from the Mughals following the treaty of Purandar and this was possible because of Tanaji Malusare in 1670. We spent almost a day here and got to know the history of this fort. After that we had lunch in a dhaba and ended our day. Hope you enjoyed the video.
