Easily the most intense border crossing I have ever undertaken! I hope this can be a guide for someone else embarking on the journey. Overall, I felt very safe traveling by boat and we had very little pirate or banditry risk as we traveled in a group during day time with plenty of other boats around. Unfortunately the immigration situation is very corrupt in Cameroon. Richard, the official at Limbe port, claimed we entered through an "illegal entry" despite his staff and himself recommending that same jetty for us to leave the country on our way back. It is quite normal for boats to drop people off at the nearby jetty and passengers walk to Limbe Port for a passport stamp. Just another chance for extortion for Richard and his bosses supporting him in the Cameroonian government. While speaking to people at that port, I learned that he regularly extorts Cameroonians for 30,000 CFA for a exit stamp. This is around one months wage for a Cameroonian. I got no footage of our journey back due to the intensity of the boat ride. It was extremely rough and we carried no cargo which made the boat move faster and hit the waves harder.
