#Visualstory- Ponmudi Trek A complex relationship between leeches, rain ,forest and fog. We step into a trail where footsteps have been ignored since long time. Trekking through forest is always been a dreamy atmosphere to me. Here , in this video its trek from Mankayam to Ponmudi and from Ponmudi to Bison Valley and return back to Ponmudi. We started from Manakayam , the base camp. From there we trek on rocky path through plantations and enter into a thick forest. As we was trekking through forest ,simultaneously we are climbing a hill too. As the forest was wetly and dark, it was the terrain of leeches. Leeches and their bites accompanies our trek. Covering the forest, and rocky paths we landed over the top " The Ponmudi ". Ponmudi (the Golden Peak) (3,600 ft )is a hill station in the Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala in India. Ponmudi include Golden Valley and a number of rivulets and rapids, some even across the road. The lush forest area has tropical vegetation. A variety of wildlife inhabit the hills. The Golden Valley offers vistas of the hills and access to the Kallar River. Flowing though a wilderness area, it has rounded pebbles, cool water, fish, and lush green trees. When we reached at Ponmudi , the scenic was foggy, the visibility was low. we stay a while there and have lunch at that time. after the lunch we packed and start to our next point " Bison Valley". Bison Valley , the name itself we can understand its territory of Indian Gaur (Indian bison). The valley is abundant for grasses, bamboo, shrubs, and trees, which is the favorite meal of Gaur. We headed to find Indian Gaur . As trek continues we enters into a shola forest , it is thick , dark and plenty of leeches . After covering the shola , we entered to a grassland. we wandered through the grassland and stop at a a point. it was a slope of mountain covered with tall bushes . The caution for stopping was , sometimes ,behind the bushes there may be Gaur. If it sees human or heard any noise , it will become panic and runs , sometimes towards us . So for avoiding such situations , our guide went for checking it out. They found no glimpse of the Gaur , so we proceed to the top. It was heavily raining . Due to rain and heavy fog, we can't able to see view of the valley. We reached the top and spent less time only because rain was heavy and the fog disrupted our scenery. So no use of staying for a long there. Then we returned back to Ponmudi . Next was the hectic process, removing leeches from our body . Ho... it was horrible........... Remark : Due to heavy rain and low light ,some of the video clip have a grainy feel. From all the footage taken , i have selected the clips which is good only. . . . .
