The STIHL FSA 80 and FSA 80 R are two new battery-powered brushcutters available in the STIHL AK System range of battery tools. Offering a big increase in power compared to the STIHL FSA 60 R, the FSA 80 is the first AK System tool powerful enough to drive a wide variety of cutting attachments, such as metal grass blades. This makes the FSA 80 cordless brushcutter perfect for those with larger properties with a mixture of lawns and more overgrown areas. The FSA 80 brushcutter features a bike handle, designed for clearing large open areas. Alternatively, the FSA 80 R has a loop handle that positions the tool across the body, perfect for quickly trimming lawn edges and around obstacles. Adjusting the loop handle on these cordless brushcutters has never been easier thanks to the new quick-release system. To adjust, simply release the orange clamp and move the handle to a position that’s most comfortable for you. Both versions of the FSA 80 cordless brushcutter are comfortable to use over longer periods, and the harness hook can also be adjusted for optimum balance, spreading the weight of the tool on your shoulders. The STIHL FSA 80 R comes with a single shoulder harness, whilst the FSA 80 battery-powered brushcutter comes with a double shoulder harness. Using the STIHL FSA 80 battery brushcutter is easy. After checking the work areas for wildlife, first put in the STIHL AK battery. The first click of the battery confirms it is in the transport position, meaning the battery is locked but not live, great for moving the tool around the garden. The second click indicates the tool is live. Then just push the lever forward with your thumb, then with your hand across the grip, simply pull the trigger. You have a choice of two power levels when using the FSA 80 cordless brushcutter. Eco mode can be used for lighter tasks, such as trimming lawn edges, and it reduces the rpm to extend the run time. Level 2 is for maximum performance and demanding applications, such as clearing scrub. In both modes the variable trigger also allows you to adjust the speed to suit the job at hand, thanks to the brushless EC motor. The FSA 80 R battery brushcutter comes with a STIHL AutoCut 27-2 mowing head, with a working time of up to 30 minutes with the recommended STIHL AK 30 battery whilst in Eco mode or 20 minutes at full power. The FSA 80 has a metal cutting blade as standard and a working time of up to 60 minutes in Eco mode, or 40 minutes at full power. The blade is great for overgrown weeds and woodier stems, whereas the line head works well around obstacles such as plant pots and pathways. There are several different STIHL cutting attachments which can be fitted to the STIHL FSA 80, depending on what you are cutting.
