It is scored so the band can produce a resonant timbre with not so many members. Written not just as performance repertoire, there is an educational element of interpretation for the director to get the performers involved in playing various styles such as staccato, accents, and tenuto. If fully performed by the score, the duration is 6 minutes 30 seconds. There is an optional cut at D.S. (mm. 33 ? 60) which is about 40 - 50 seconds.
