Lugano si affaccia sull'omonimo lago; dista poche ore da Zurigo e Milano. Il lago di Lugano, detto anche "Lago Ceresio" dal nome dell'antico paese adagiato lungo la sua costa, è uno dei più belli tra i laghi prealpini; solo una piccola parte di esso rientra nella provincia di Varese. Le attività che la città offre ai turisti sono molteplici, quelle legate al benessere ed al relax, al mondo degli affari, alle serate al Casinò e alle escursioni naturalistiche sul Monte Brè. Una città piena di confort e intrattenimento, dove il livello di criminalità è tra i più bassi d'Europa, grazie a un servizio di polizia locale efficiente. Come in tutto il resto della Svizzera qui abbondano banche, assicurazioni, negozi di cioccolato ma anche ........ tante farmacie, proprio così! Anche i luganesi sono dei gran lavoratori che prendono molto sul serio il proprio mestiere, tuttavia sono molto meno propensi agli straordinari serali o durante i weekend; la domenica la maggior parte dei negozi è chiusa; questo giorno è dedicato al riposo ed al divertimento. Il costo della vita è molto alto, così come anche lo stipendio medio svizzero; a tal proposito agli occhi dei lavoratori, specialmente per quelli provenienti da oltre confine, Lugano appare un paradiso! Sono ormai decine di migliaia i lavoratori “frontalieri” italiani che ogni giorno vengono a lavorare ogni mattina a Lugano per conseguire a fine mese uno stipendio che permette loro di vivere da signori in Italia. E' bello visitare Lugano e non c’è da preoccuparsi di spendere tanti soldi. Nei due giorni che ci sono stato ho mangiato a prezzi davvero contenuti all'ultimo piano del CoopCity. In alternativa segnalo il ristorante della catena Manor. Da vedere il bosco incantato del Parco Ciani, Piazza della Riforma, il cuore storico della città, la Cattedrale di San Lorenzo, via Nassa, la strada ricca di vetrine, che attira chi ama lo shopping di lusso, e botteghe storiche come Bernasconi o Gabbani dove acquistare prodotti tipici ticinesi e lombardi.
