Join us on our epic overlanding adventure as we tackle the challenging Simpson Desert in our trusty Toyota Troopy, an expedition truck that has been meticulously set up for off-road travel. Our troopy build has been designed to withstand the harsh conditions of the desert, but even the best overland setup can be put to the test. In this video, we recount the thrilling story of how Big Red, a notorious sand dune, nearly stopped our desert run, pushing our 4wd skills and expedition planning to the limit. With its massive size and treacherous terrain, Big Red is a formidable obstacle that requires careful navigation and a sturdy vehicle. Find out how we overcame this obstacle and continued our journey, and learn valuable tips and insights on overlanding, expedition truck build, and off-road travel in the process. Our Toyota Troopy proved to be a reliable companion, but it was our experience and expertise in expedition planning that ultimately saved the day. Watch to the end to see how we tackled Big Red and emerged victorious, and discover the thrill of overlanding in one of Australia's most beautiful and unforgiving deserts. Starting from Oodnadatta Roadhouse, on this 5-day journey, we head to Dalhousie Springs, then take the Rig Road to the WAA Line, then head north on Knolls Track, to pick up the French Line to Poeppel Corner and then join the QAA Line to Eyre Creek from there, we head to Big Red and finish up at the famous Birdsville Hotel for a burger and cold-one.
