Volvo Trucks North America has officially revealed a completely revamped version of its VNR regional haul truck. With nearly ninety percent of its design updated, this marks the most significant overhaul of the model to date. The unveiling took place at the American Trucking Associations’ Technology and Maintenance Council Annual Meeting, where Volvo highlighted major improvements in fuel efficiency, advanced safety features, and better maneuverability for urban routes. One of the most impressive upgrades is the truck’s improved fuel efficiency, which has increased by up to 7.5 percent. Volvo attributes nearly thirty percent of this gain to powertrain enhancements, particularly the introduction of the new D13 Variable Geometry Turbo diesel engine. This engine will be available in configurations ranging from 405 horsepower to 455 horsepower, with torque figures between 1,450 pound-feet and 1,850 pound-feet.
