Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met with visiting Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg on Friday, both pledging to enhance political mutual trust and promote pragmatic cooperation based on mutual respect for each other's core interests and major concerns. Both countries should cherish that the bilateral relations have been back on track, said Li, calling for the Norwegian side to adhere to the one-China policy. Li said that China would like to work with Norway to enhance communication and coordination in international and regional affairs and promote the bilateral ties to yield more fruitful achievements within the China-Nordic cooperation framework. Solberg said that Norway will take the normalization of the bilateral ties as a new starting point, adhere to the one-China policy, respect China's core interest and concerns, enhance political mutual trust and establish a long-term friendly cooperative relations with China. Li and Solberg attended a signing ceremony after the meeting and witnessed the inking of multiple documents on bilateral cooperation involving economy and trade, scientific research and health. Also, Zhang Dejiang, Chinese top legislator, met with Solberg the same day. Both agreed to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between legislative bodies of the two countries. A grand welcome ceremony was held in the early afternoon for Solberg who is on an official visit from Friday to Tuesday. On Dec. 19, 2016, China and Norway issued a statement in Beijing on the normalization of bilateral ties.
