In 1980, German musician Jürgen Waidele privately released an album titled “And Friends” - a self-financed jazz / soul-jazz record pressed in a very small run (reportedly around 1000 copies). The album was recorded in the Konstanz / Bodensee region and reflects the late 70s–early 80s European jazz-funk underground scene - a space where American soul, fusion, funk, and spiritual jazz influences merged with local musicianship. “And Friends” was never officially reissued. It is not available on streaming platforms. It does not circulate digitally. It exists only on vinyl. According to Discogs statistics: – Only 33 collectors report owning it – Over 130+ want it – No official digital presence One of the standout tracks is “Pokey Nova” (6:43). This is the exact sample used by The Alchemist on: J. Cole - “Bunce Road Blues” (from The Fall Off) The lush jazz harmony, open drum pocket, warm Rhodes textures, and melodic phrasing make it a perfect hip-hop sampling source. The groove has that late-70s European jazz-funk bounce - clean drums, airy keys, melodic headroom and strong loop potential. Personnel on the album includes: – Thomas “Pele” Keller (guitar) – Reinhard Stehle (keyboards) – Thomas “Pele” Johnke (keyboards) – Henry Eberhard (sax) – Additional regional musicians from the Bodensee jazz scene The album was recorded at Tonstudio Bodanrück and released independently. The German newspaper Südkurier published an article at the time titled “Unter Wert verkauft” (“Sold Below Value”), describing Waidele as a highly skilled but under-recognized musician. Over four decades later, the record resurfaces - not through reissues or streaming platforms - but through hip-hop production. This upload preserves a piece of rare European jazz history. Vinyl rip from my personal copy. 📌 If you represent the rights holders and want edits/removal, contact me here: erman629@gmail.com #JCole #TheFallOff #BunceRoadBlues #TheAlchemist #Sampling #SampleSpotting #CrateDigging #RareGroove #SoulJazz #JazzFunk #PrivatePress #Vinyl #ObscureMusic #JCole #TheFallOff #BunceRoadBlues #TheAlchemist #Future #Tems #Sampling #SampleBreakdown #SampleSpotting #WhoSampled #CrateDigging #RareGroove #SoulJazz #JazzFunk #PrivatePress #GermanJazz #ObscureMusic #VinylCommunity #LP #RecordDigging #DeepCuts #MusicDiscovery #NowPlaying
