Lets *not* design good things with AI. The surplus, will not be for you ---Jelle van Dijk

Think you save time using Chat-GPT? Make no mistake: The surplus, will not be for you. The problem is not how we use GenAI, nor even what we use it for. The problem is: GenAI. In this talk I explain why designing "good things" (even with the best intentions) using Generative AI, is a project doomed to fail. Taking a an embodied, phenomenological approach I argue that some of the core problems of GenAI are designed into the architecture of present-day GenAI systems. Designing something good with something inherently bad is a road to nowhere. So either we don't use AI at all (a very sensible approach), or we fundamentally redesign AI itself.
