Karnataka BJP MLA K Madal Virupakshappa’s son caught taking Rs 40 lakh bribe on behalf of father

A BJP MLA's son was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 40 lakh in his father's office in Bengaluru on Thursday evening. This is quite an embarrassment for BJP ahead of the assembly polls. V Prashant Madal was arrested after he was caught by Lokayukta police accepting money from a private individual in the Crescent Road office of his father, Channagiri BJP MLA K Madal Virupakshappa. Lokayukta police also visited Prashant's residence in Dollars Colony, Sanjaynagar. The FIR that led to the trap was filed on Thursday morning. The person, from whom the accused had demanded Rs 81 lakh, filed a complaint. Later, Lokayukta officials recovered Rs 6 crore in cash during a raid at his residence in Bengaluru. Prashant is a chief accountant with BWSSB. The bribe he was collecting was meant for his father, who is also the chairman for Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd.
