At the Heart of Sampaloc Manila along Figueras street sits two neighboring shrine- The Saint Anthony of Padua Shrine and the National Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Loreto. These two churches has distinct architectural elements but with one purpose, this is to house God and to spread faith to one another. I rode jeepney from Pasig via Quiapo. Then I got-off near Legarda Station along Figueras Street. (If you're planning to ride LRT you can get-off at Legarda station and find the sign Figueras Street beside Chowking). The church is walking distance. Architectural Style and Architect 1. The Saint Anthony of Padua Shrine- Style: Architect: 2. National Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Loreto- Style: Architect: History: These two church is a testament of resiliency and faithfulness- The Parish of Our Lady of Loreto was first built in 1613 but was burned down during the Chinese revolt in 1639, after one year the church was rebuilt again, then for the second time the church was destroyed by earthquake in 1645. And there were few more period happened a long time ago where this church was damage and rebuilt again, the most recent in history was during the World War II in 1945 the church was completely destroyed, however the people rebuilt it again. Neighboring church is the Saint Anthony of Padua Shrine, historically the church traces its origin in 1794, when the Franciscan build its own church by the order of their Franciscan brethren. This church was also damage during World War II.
