How to Ride a Train The Victorian Way | Bucks Railway Centre | Victorian History for Kids

A history video for kids looking at the history of Victorian Railways and the unusual beliefs Queen Victoria and people of the time had when railways first started. Ideal for children aged 6+ In this episode I learn what it was like to ride a train in the Victorian times as I spend the day at Buckinghamshire railway Centre. I have the privilege of joining Queen Victoria herself for a cup of tea in the royal saloon (well sort of, and before being royally dismissed that is!) and I experience the role of the fireman as I take an exclusive ride in the cab of an old steam train! Find out why Queen Victoria refused to let the train travel more that 40mph, what peculiar things 3rd class passengers used to share their carriages with and what clever entrepreneurial man invented the ‘day out’! Not only am I a massive fan of the Victorians but my little boy is steam train mad and this is one of his favourite places so I’m really excited that this episode is kicking off our second series! If you’ve never been before, I hope this video inspires you to take a trip to this brilliant museum. Parents, teachers and museums: Let me know your thoughts!
