Aerial 4k UHD video of two nearby industrial landmarks in Wexford in the river Barrow estuary on the borders of Counties Wexford and Kilkenny in Ireland. The Great Island power station started life in 1967 producing electricity from heavy fuel oil. The station was due to close but was purchased by SSE thermal who subsequently recommissioned it as a gas-powered generation plant. Today it generates twice as much electricity powering the equivalent of 500,000 homes. Nearby is the imposing structure of the rail bridge across the river Barrow. At 650m length spanned, it is the 3rd longest bridge in the British Isles and an architectural marvel. Completed in 1906, it is no longer in regular use for rail traffic. On the Kilkenny side, one span pivots electrically to allow for routine passage of shipping. Both in design and production, the bridge shares a strong heritage with the world famous Forth rail bridge in Scotland. Each of the main spans is 45m in length and the bridge sits ~8m above the water line.
