Real Time: Flush Setting

A real-time look into the stone setting process in my studio. In this video, I am using a 1.0mm drill to start the seat, a 2mm ball bur to clear out the seat, and finally, a 2mm 90-degree hart bur to create the full seat for the 2mm stones. Once the stones are seated, I use a highly polished steel burnisher to press the edges of the seat on to the stone to secure it in place. To do the final polish, I'm using silicon polishing wheels and silicon polishing pins. I am being careful to go around the stones so as to not scratch them. Once I'm finished with the silicon wheels, I'm using brush wheels with red rouge to get the high shine back on the cuff. I'm not too worried about scratching the stones because they are CZ's, but be careful if you've got stones with a Mohs hardness of less than 7 because the red rouge will make minute scratches that will take away from the stone's brilliance.
