Suddenly — the lights snap off, and single spotlight hits centre stage. ERIN (9) steps into it. Dressed head-to-toe as a ninja, Erin bows politely before launching into a spectacular martial-arts routine that leaves the room stunned — and the Principal spitting out his coffee. Instead of praise, Erin is handed a series of more “appropriate” roles. But no matter what costume she’s given — innkeeper, sheep, angel — her ninja instincts keep bursting through, bringing chaos and hilarity. Eventually sidelined completely, Erin watches from the shadows as the others rehearse without her. But seeing Erin quietly helping a nervous classmate find the courage to perform, Mrs Doyle gives her a final chance, despite the reluctant looks from her Principal.
