Walk of Hope: Sheffield Friends of Baton of Hope

Sheffield Friends of Baton of Hope – a legacy group formed after the city was included in the 2023 Tour – have staged their own event called ‘Walk of Hope.’ The occasion, in which participants carried the Baton of Hope around Weston Park close to the city centre, created a poignant echo of Sheffield’s role in the charity’s highly successful national tour of 2023. The ‘Friends’ group chair Tony Stacey said: “This was a profoundly moving event in which we continued to build on the events two years ago and to raise awareness around the importance of suicide prevention. The Baton has quickly become a nationally recognised symbol which helps to open up conversations, smash the stigma and put suicide prevention on the public and political agenda.”
