Two Killed in Horrific Bambolim Highway Crash; Sepak Takraw Officials Among Victims

In a tragic road accident early Tuesday, two people lost their lives after a speeding tanker reportedly lost control and rammed into a rent-a-car on the Bambolim highway around 1 a.m. According to police, the tanker first mounted the road divider before crashing head-on into the oncoming vehicle. The impact was so severe that the car—believed to be carrying tourists—was completely crushed, killing both occupants instantly. The tanker later veered off the road and came to a stop in nearby bushes. The deceased have been identified as Yogendar Singh (42), President of the All India Sepak Takraw Association and a resident of Delhi, and Ankit Kumar Baliyan, a senior Sepak Takraw player from Uttar Pradesh. Police and emergency services reached the spot shortly after the incident. A case has been registered against the tanker driver, Rahul Sarwade, as investigations continue to determine whether overspeeding or driver fatigue led to the fatal crash.
