Keeping government deficit and debt low lets economic growth boom on its own. This is liberal orthodoxy in a nutshell, and the Czech Republic has followed it very closely. Before the pandemic, the country ran budget surpluses and performed well in terms of growth. Now, it has embarked on a program of fiscal consolidation and again is doing very well. This stands in contrast to other CEE countries (apart from Bulgaria), where governments try to support their economies through increased spending.
