Last night I watched Moulin Rouge cause I thought, I love this movie and it's been a while. Then I laid down listening to my ipod before bed and BAM! Idea struck. Thing is, I used to be OBSESSED with this movie! I think I saw it in the theater 5 times...made sure I got the VHS (yes, the VHS) the day it came out. Had the soundtrack. Etc. Etc. Etc. I can't tell you how much I used to love this movie...and discovered that I still love it last night! Baz Luhrmann's just a fucking genius. And that's all there is. The film world needs more of his vision. It's so unique. Moulin Rouge and Romeo and Juliet are two of the most artistically shot movies that I can think of...and go figure that they come from the same guy! Just learned he's going to be directing the upcoming Great Gatsby remake! SUPER EXCITED FOR THAT! Baz Luhrmann, Leo, Toby McGuire, and the story of the Great Gatsby? WIN!!! He needs to win all the awards because he's...the boss as far as I'm concerned. And of course the story of this movie is so beautiful. And tragic. And Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor are full of awesome chemistry and both really brought it in this movie. They're both actors I'm kinda hit or miss with when it comes to their choice in roles...but this movie is a landslide victory for them both! -------------- I'm very proud to say this video is the recipient of a vid Oscar!!!!!
