Not sure what to expect? Watch this SHORT #fellwalking film! #LancashireLads share their favourite #NickyNook route, a 3 mile circular walk, along with the BEST coffee stops for afterwards... right on the edge of the Forest of Bowland. Nicky Nook is one of the best Lancashire walks under 5 miles, with a great selection of coffee shops for after. Full walk description and downloadable GPS mapping of this route, visit our blog post here; https://lancashirelads.life/nicky-noo... Nicky Nook is only a short fell climb of 215m and can be seen from the roadside in Scorton and surrounding areas such as Garstang thanks to the Queen's Jubilee monument perfectly positioned on the hillside. It's the perfect short walk for a family with trails to follow throughout. If you're on holiday in the Forest of Bowland, this will be a lovely morning / afternoon walk for you, one of our favourite family friendly walks in Lancashire. We recommend starting the walk from Snow Hill Lane close to Apple Store Cafe (one of our top 3 coffee stops in the Scorton Area). Start the climb by passing through the first of two kissing gates before reaching the sumit trig point of Nicky Nook. From the top on a clear day there are panoramic views to enjoy, passing several beautiful tarns on route. Begin the descent on the opposite end of Nicky Nook. We recommend taking the path down slightly off to the right, heading down into a hidden valley where you will find Grizedale Reservoir. At the bottom, turn right and pass Grizedale Reservoir now on your left. We continue along this path for 1 mile approx, following Grizedale Brook. Keep an eye out for lots of nature along this path, we've seen deer here from time to time! At the end of this beautiful trail, once you approach a farm gate, turn right walking through a small valley until you reach a gate by the roadside, signposted Slean End. You want to head right along this road for less than a mile, bringing you back to the start, with nice views and farm life to soak in on route back to your car. DON'T FORGET to visit one of our 3 recommended coffee stops! Lots of great coffee & cake choices to experience here, along with fantastic food menus... Apple Store is the closest, allowing dogs inside, serving up huge food portions :) Their outdoor kids area is great for family gatherings too. The Barn at Scorton has a fantastic gift shop along with a bar and decent coffee / cake selection, but dogs must be kept outside in the outdoor seating areas only. Daisy Clough also has a nice little gift shop, a tearoom serving delicious food and plant nursery for any keen gardeners! Nicky Nook is certainly one of our favourite Lancashire walks under 5 miles, with a great selection of coffee shops for afterwards! Have you climbed this fell before?
