With more than 300,000 Black Women losing their jobs in recent months, many of us are being forced to ask a hard but necessary question: How do I make money when the system no longer protects me? For Black Women who have overperformed, stayed loyal, and still been laid off, entrepreneurship is no longer just a dream — it’s becoming a survival strategy, a liberation strategy, and a pathway to long-term stability. In this powerful LIVE conversation, I sit down with Dominique Brown, Realtor and business owner, to talk honestly about what it really takes to start your own business when you’ve been disrupted, laid off, or emotionally exhausted by toxic work environments. This discussion will explore the emotional, financial, and practical realities of starting a business as a Black Woman, especially when the decision is driven by necessity rather than choice. We’ll talk about fear, confidence, risk, and how to begin building income streams that don’t depend on workplaces that discard us. Here’s what we’ll cover: • Why Black Women must expand how we think about earning, ownership, and economic safety right now • How to begin identifying skills, interests, and opportunities that can translate into a real business • What starting a business actually looks like — beyond social media hype — and how to prepare realistically This conversation is designed to help Black Women understand that entrepreneurship is not about perfection — it’s about access, preparation, and courage. If you’ve been laid off, pushed out, or are quietly preparing for what comes next, this conversation is for you. You are not behind. You are not failing. You are responding to a system that is unstable — and choosing yourself anyway. Entrepreneurship isn’t about hustle — it’s about options. And Black Women deserve options.
