CRIME BRANCH, DELHI PRESS RELEASE Date: 02.02.2025 AS PER GUIDELINES OF ELECTION COMMISSION OF INDIA, AND KEEPING IN VIEW OF DELHI LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS, A DRIVE AGAINST ILLICIT LIQUOR, DRUG AND ILLEGAL ARMS IS BEING CONDUCTED: Team of Eastern Range -I, Crime Branch ,Delhi Police arrests a notorious member of "Sonu @ Makora" Gang working for Sunder Bhati and two sophisticated pistols , 125 live cartridges and three magazines recovered from his possession: ⮚ Two automatic sophisticated pistols made in Austria and Turkey ⮚ Four live cartridges of 9 mm, 21 live cartridges of AK-47, 40 live cartridges of 7.65 mm, 10 live cartridges of pipe guns, 50 live cartridges made in the Czech Republic, ⮚ One AK-47 magazine, Two carbine magazines ⮚ One Maruti Suzuki Ertiga car As per guidelines of Election Commission of India, and keeping in view of Delhi legislative Assembly elections, a drive against illicit liquor, drug, and illegal arms is being conducted. A dedicated team consisting of SI Sanjay Tyagi, SI Governor Singh, ASI Ajay Kumar (6297/D), HC Mohit Kumar (1204/Crime), Ct. Deepak (1201/Crime), and W/Ct. Anupriya was constituted under the leadership of Insp. Gurmeet Singh, supervision of ACP Sh. Rohitash Kumar and overall supervision and guidance of Sh. Vikram Singh, DCP, Crime, Delhi. The team was assigned the task of taking action against suppliers of illicit liquor, drugs, and illegal firearms. The team was also tasked with monitoring the activities of various gangs operating in the Delhi NCR area. INFORMATION, OPERATION, AND ARREST: In a significant operation, the Delhi Police Crime Branch successfully apprehended an accused named Amrish Bhati, a resident of Chithera, Post-Dadari, Gautam Budh Nagar, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, aged 34 years. The operation, spearheaded by Inspector Gurmeet Singh of ER-1 under the supervision of ACP Shri Rohitash Kumar, led to the arrest of an active member of the Sonu @ Makora Gang, which operates under the protection of Sunder Bhati, an infamous criminal of western Uttar Pradesh. Recently, Sonu @ Makora was arrested by the Special Cell, Delhi, in case FIR No. 412/24, based on the statement of accused Aftab Ansari, son of Abdul Hasan. During this arrest, three Glock 9 mm pistols, along with other illegal weapons, were recovered. Subsequently, on January 19, 2025, Eastern Range-1, Crime Branch arrested another accused, Abhi @ Vishal @ Kalu, a resident of Gali No. 02, Gopalpur, Timarpur, New Delhi, from the Paper Market, Headgewar Road, near Gazipur Mandi, Delhi. One pistol, three country-made firearms, and 12 live cartridges were recovered from his possession. During interrogation, he revealed that another gang member, Amrish, had previously procured sophisticated weapons for the Sonu Makora Gang. Based on this intelligence, further investigations were conducted, leading to the apprehension of accused Amrish on January 28, 2025, near the parking area of Crowne Plaza Hotel, Chilla Village, Delhi. He was found carrying illegal weapon. INTERROGATION DETAILS: Accused: Amrish Bhati currently resides with his family at the PG Hostel in Gautam Budh University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. He is pursuing a Postgraduate Degree in Hindu Studies. A permanent resident of Chithera Village, Gautam Budh Nagar, UP, his criminal background traces back to 2000, when his father was killed in a property dispute. Seeking revenge, he and his brothers murdered Sushil, a resident of Chithera, Dadri, UP, for which he served a jail sentence. In 2006, he came in contact with Sanjay and Sumit Bhati self-proclaimed “dabangs” of Gautam Budh Nagar and neighbouring districts. CRIMINAL INVOLVEMENT: The accused was previously involved in the murder of Sushil, a resident of Chithera, Dadri, UP. RECOVERY: The following items were recovered from his possession: • Two automatic sophisticated pistols made in Austria and Turkey • Four live cartridges of 9 mm • 21 live cartridges of AK-47 • 40 live cartridges of 7.65 mm • 10 live cartridges of pipe guns • 50 live cartridges made in the Czech Republic • One AK-47 magazine • Two carbine magazines • An upper cover of an AK-47 assault rifle A case has been registered under FIR No. 21/2025, U/S 25 Arms Act, at PS Crime Branch. Further raids are being done to arrest other accused.
