Dark clouds started to gather, and it looked like it was about to rain any moment. Just when I didn’t know what to do, a stranger in a 4x4 vehicle stopped and offered me a lift. I decided to take the chance. During the ride, we introduced ourselves and started talking. Out of curiosity, I asked him what he does… and his answer completely surprised me — he told me he is a politician from the Bulawayo North constituency. We had a really interesting and friendly conversation about life in Bulawayo, and he even shared his perspective about the city. He later dropped me safely at the Bulawayo Railway Museum. After that unexpected experience, I explored the railway museum, looking at the old trains and history, and later continued my journey by taking a night bus to Victoria Falls. This day turned out to be completely unexpected — from hitchhiking in the rain to meeting a politician and ending the day traveling towards one of the most famous places in Africa.
