How to Design and Laser Cut a Combination Chess Board and Display Shelves

In this episode I make a chess board to go with the chess set I made in the last episode. I design a chess board that doubles as a display case for the chess pieces. The board is designed in Adobe Illustrator and the parts are cut on a laser cutter. The pieces are assembled using a chemical solvent that fuses the pieces together. The board is made from the same ivory, black and turquoise acrylics that were used for constructing the chess pieces. I apply felt, cut on the laser cutter, to the bottom of the pieces to protect the board.
