First made-in-Taiwan lung cancer drug could become first targeted EGFR therapy

The first made-in-Taiwan targeted drug aimed at treatment for lung cancermight soon be available to patients. The new therapy targets the epidermal growth factor receptor - EGFR - mutations of which cause a type of lung cancer that currently can only be treated with chemotherapy.The Ministry of Science and Technology　along with the National Health Research Institutes say the drug could be available within five years.A new targeted oral drug for lung cancer has been unveiled by the Ministry of Science and Technology in conjunction with the National Health Research Institutes. DBPR112 could become a new option for lung cancer patients with EGFR mutations, which previously could only be treated with chemotherapy. There’s not yet a targeted medicine for this in use.
