Loren Waters and Tafv Sampson: Friendship, Film, and Making Native Stories With Native Teams

This week I’m joined by Loren Waters and Tafv Sampson. Loren is an award winning Filmmaker who was recently in New York City for a screening of her short documentary TIGER a captivating 13 minute film about the legacy of the Tiger family in Oklahoma. The film is Oscar-qualified, and Loren took home a directing award at Sundance earlier this year. She keeps receiving well deserved recognition for her work, but what means the most to her is the support of her community. Joining her, is Tafv Sampson, a set designer and one of Loren’s closest collaborators. The two met on the set of Reservation Dogs and have been creating together ever since. We talk about how special it is to work alongside other Indigenous creatives, what it means to take the leap from one career to the next, and how we carry our ancestors with us every step of the way.
