Did the red rope hanging from your Marantec M4700e (or similar PDS-4700e) break off? They call it the "Emergency Release Cord". Yeah, mine broke too. These Marantec guys should be thrown under the jail for these kinds of antics. But you might be able to fix it yourself without even breaking-out a wrench. This video is a bit of instruction for how to replace the red cord. It's theoretical, because I took the rail down, removed the trolley, and took the trolley apart in order to replace my cord. But you might be able to replace the cord without all that extra work. The idea is to compress the spring that's inside the trolley in order to expose the small box, where you find the knotted cord. Remove the disintegrated bit of rope and thread your own rope through. If you "called the man", they'd probably replace the "Marantec Garage Door Opener Trolley Assembly" (part number 118798 or part number 8030177 or part number 000915390003). The part itself is anywhere from $40 to $70, then they'd get the fee for just showing up, plus an hour labor. You'd be in for spending some pretty good money. I'd rather spend that money on a few nice restaurant meals and do it myself. By the way, my unit was labeled PDS-4700e, and when you search that, you come up with "Precision Door Service", which is a chain that re-labels the Marantec equipment.
