Adjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer: who needs it?

Fatima Cardoso, MD, from the Champalimaud Clinical Cancer Centre, Lisbon, Portugal discusses a session on the management of luminal breast cancer at the 2017 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) conference. Dr Cardoso’s talk focused on the question of how to know which patients need adjuvant therapy, and she talks to us about the best ways to answer this question, and what her main conclusions are. Another topic discussed at the session was genomic signatures in patients which can help us select which patients require chemotherapy, and she explains how a Phase III clinical trial, MINDACT (NCT00433589), addresses this.
