'85 Air Jordan 1 Chopped Into Lows | How To Age Jordans

We are back at it again with Vick Almighty customizing not one, but TWO sneakers on this episode of Customs & Restorations! Vick picked up the recently released Air Jordan 1 Metallic Burgundy to give them an aged/old-school look resembling the classic 1985 Jordan 1s. The thing is, one of these pairs will be chopped up and turned into low tops! Vick begins the project by aging both pairs using his preferred technique, the coffee method! This gives the leather that perfectly aged tint that all the OG Jordans are now known for. It's important that you wash your shoes after dying them with coffee, so be sure to pick up some Sneaker Laundry Pods and a Laundry Bag at Reshoevn8r.com! Now that the shoes had the right tint, Vick began to work on the new sock liner for the low-top pair. The burgundy satin fabric was the perfect touch to add to this custom but Vick took it a step further and added a quilted stitch to give it a luxurious look. Creating a new sock liner was just the beginning. The big chop! Cutting of the collar of a Jordan 1 High is a very meticulous process but Vick makes it look easy, almost like he's done this before 😉 Once the new sock liner was glued down and stitched in, he moved on to adjusting the tongues to fit the new low top. With some glue and a quick stitch, the tongues were reinstalled and perfectly aligned to the new dimensions of the shoe. Before Vick could wrap up this custom, there were a few more finishing touches needed. He dyed both midsoles with the Foxtrot Uniform Sneaker Stainer, giving it a deep sail tone and added some old glue marks around the upper, reminiscent of the oxidized glue marks on the '85 Jordans. The last and most time consuming step of the this project was cracking all the metallic areas of the shoes to look exactly like the Metallic Pack from the 80's. This detail was a staple in bringing these customs to life and Vick tackled this task with skill and patience. Overall, Vick put in a lot of hours on these customs but the results were well worth the wait!
